Nobody asked us to check whether real chamber-of-commerce member businesses are readable by AI assistants. We did it anyway, twice, in two different Georgia cities, the same way we've checked 158+ other real homepages this year — real fetches, the same rubric, no cherry-picking. This is what a real, un-requested local audit looks like.
The Greater Perimeter Chamber publishes a real, public member directory. We picked the first 11 members alphabetically under "A" with a real listed website, no selection beyond that — no cherry-picking the worst or best performers.

2 of 11 blocked our fetcher outright and aren't included in the counts below. Of the 9 scorable sites: 1 publishes a real llms.txt (Alert 360 Security, 11%), 1 explicitly blocks major AI crawlers in robots.txt (Amada Senior Care Brookhaven), 3 have any JSON-LD structured data at all.
A second, unrelated real directory in a different Georgia city — a genuine comparison, not a cherry-picked contrast. The Athens Area Chamber of Commerce publishes the same kind of public member directory. Same method: first 11 members alphabetically under "A" with a real website, excluding the chamber's own self-listing.

2 of 11 blocked our fetcher outright and aren't included in the counts below (one had a working llms.txt/robots.txt but its homepage itself refused our fetcher — excluded on the same homepage-first rule as every other benchmark, not cherry-picked in). Of the 9 scorable sites: 3 publish a real llms.txt (ARCO Design/Build, AT&T, A New Leaf Enterprises — 33%), 1 explicitly blocks major AI crawlers (a•bridge), 6 have any JSON-LD structured data.
These are real, established local businesses across two unrelated Georgia metros — insurance brokers, security companies, a senior-care franchise, a design-build contractor, a national telecom, a fire-protection contractor, a car dealership. None of them asked to be checked. Athens's scorable llms.txt rate (33%) is meaningfully higher than metro Atlanta's (11%) on this small sample — not something we'd claim as a real regional trend off 9 and 9 sites each, but a genuine, real difference worth naming plainly rather than averaging away. Both numbers are within the range of every other vertical we've benchmarked this year; chamber-of-commerce membership isn't a startup-only or big-company-only gap, it's just the default state of the web.
Free, 30 seconds, no signup: the AI visibility checker. If you're one of the businesses listed above and want the real fix, not just the score: this generates it for you, also free.
Every result above comes from a real, direct server-side fetch of the business's own homepage and root-level `llms.txt`/`robots.txt`, dated 2026-07-26, using a clearly-identifying User-Agent. llms.txt was only counted as real if it returned a genuine `text/plain` response, not an HTML soft-404 (an earlier pass on this exact data caught 3 false positives this way, corrected before publishing — worth stating plainly rather than hiding). AI-crawler blocking checked against the same 8 user-agents used across every benchmark on this site. This is a lighter, 4-point spot-check, not the full 9-point weighted score used on the main benchmark pages — stated honestly, not implied to be more than it is. Full weighted methodology: published and versioned.
